Have been dipping in and out whilst on a two hour conference call- how much did he lose by being late?
He was over 1’30” down on the winner, in 27th. Ethan Hayter was 5th.

Who would make the ideal candidate? Recently retired pro, widely respected? How about Jens Vogt?
If your were Jan Ullrich, struggling with addiction and sanity, would you rather be visited by Armstrong or the ghost of Pantani past?

I think the bigger issue is that the way the head of the CPA is elected is clearly undemocratic. Riders from countries with a large number of professionals, so France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the US, vote as a block, so all the Italian rider votes will go to Bugno for example. Riders from smaller countries can only vote if they attend the meeting in Innsbruck tomorrow. Universal suffrage and a secret ballot are basic foundations of democracy so really ought to be implemented.
Bugno himself retired in the late 90s so hasn’t been a pro cyclist for 20 years. You’d think the current generation would want someone who knew the challenges they faced now to represent them.
I’m not sure Millar is the right person, but a fair and open vote is surely a necessity?
