    And yes, it did release spontaneously on a few occasions. Nowhere near as painful as I feared thankfully.

    Now got a nice smooth KSLev one, though I remember being pretty frustrated at how slow it was to rise vs the TMARS one.

    Still would recommend picking one up if you're on a budget or fancy dipping your toe in the world of dropper posts without committing £100+.

    Replacing the cable was a pain as far as I recall though. They're don't take regular gear/brake cable ends, so I'd have to take a road brake cable and file down the end until it was small enough to fit in the release mechanism.

    I actually already have a cheap dropper post* on my MTB (it's the Brandx one, think I got it for £50 or something) but have an eBay alert in case there's an ultra-cheap 27.2 mm one so that I can try it on a gravel bike to annoy everyone in that thread.

    * to my shame, I bought it about 6 months ago and so far I've only ridden it on commutes
