  • Very nice! I have to say I prefer this Indian Summer though;

    xx

  • cereals?

    i'm in.

    (i always was, but i'm double-in)

  • Playing some tunes in Agile Rabbit in Brixton Village tonight from 7.

  • Oh hai. Instead of starting who WAS in a band (I'm still in a band) I'm going to start posting old things I dun in here. Was feeling nostalgic for these boys tonight. Still love this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azMxp9afSvM

  • If you can make it tonight, I'll put you on the guest list... ;P

  • Anyone dealt with a "label services" provider for stuff like marketing? Seems to be more of a thing these days as artists are able to produce and own finished the product themselves. Some big acts do without labels and deal with these peeps. A friend of mine runs one of the biggest UK exponents and I just asked for some advice. While I'm waiting I thought I'd ask the lufugsus hive mind.

Basically, I'm sick of spending months of hard graft and decent money on getting stuff i'm actually really happy with and proud of; only to have it disappear without trace when "released" via bandbamp and the band's facebook page. I need to do some marketing (or SOMETHING) to stand any chance of more than a dozen people hearing it.

Let's assume that that getting a word of mouth buzz thing happening from playing wildly hip underground gigs is out shall we? I do play out occasionally but I'm too old and busy with babies and work to be out gigging regularly. What i'm looking for is a way to get a bit of exposure online and in the absence of time to be able to devote to self-promotion, I'm willing to pay someone to do it for me. With a limited budget natch.

I do have what I believe to be really decent "content". I have good quality studio recordings, great little promo videos and a smattering of regular gigs I can call on to to book an event whenever I want or need to.

Anyone got any hot tips or contacts?

  • Playing guitar for Kim Salmon at the end of August, well excited... Bringing the old Fender Tele Deluxe/Twin Reverb combo out of retirement for the occasion... šŸ‘Œ

  • Awesome!

  • Not sure where to post this but.......

Our long term keyboard player recently left the band due to commitment issues. We have a single and video soon to be put out, and currently recording a follow-up single. We're itching to play live, and have been rehearsing extensively with the guitarist filling in on keys in the hopes we can be focused on getting a new keyboardist up to speed quickly.

We are an 8-piece band with emphasis on vocals/harmonies and mixing live band with programming and synth production. We feel we have our own aesthetic approach, so I'm hard-pushed to use comparisons. Artists such as Bjork, Cornelius/Salyu, Deerhoof have been an influence in the past, but the vocal style is our most unique aspect. Perhaps Chris Morris is a good mindset example on the surreal satire side, but soundwise is difficult to compare (some people have mentioned Dirty Projectors referring to the female singers).

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send something over, and perhaps arrange a meet up.

You'd inherit a couple of Nords and some rack gear. Not sure if that is some kinda 'pre-bribe' but whatevs. Being able to play and sing is also a must - lots of vocoder work.

    Thanks

  • Anyone (south of the river?) need a bassist? Pallbearer, Cough, Electric Wizard, Amenra, Mars Red Sky, Sungrazer, Ruby The Hatchet...
Just getting myself back into it after a 9 year hiatus.

  • Lufgus music hive mind ā€“ anybody know any decent drummers up for joining a sort of melodic post-hardcore type thing? London based mostly, but I am in Brighton so we are a bit flexible.

    As advertised elsewhere:

Creative drummer wanted for established melodic post-hardcore / alt. metal act.

    What we do:
Karab draws on an eclectic range of the heavier side of music, from Deftones to He Is Legend to Karnivool.
We have built up good momentum with past gigs and releases, and will be working to continue this with live dates and studio time already booked in for this year.

Things we need you to be:
    Comfortable employing bizarre time signatures.
Experience and aptitude with a double-bass pedal.
Happy to keep it straight-forward when the song requires.
    Own transport or otherwise self-sufficient.
Available on weekends, up for the odd afternoon off work.
    Tolerant of Limp Bizkit references.

  • I've moved, now in E7 if anyone needs a bassist.

  • Yeah I do need a bassist. PM me and lets make it happen. Looking to do 3 piece rock outfit like Hendrix/kravitz vibes. Vintage sounds.

Recording started already but up to have fresh ideas and input.

  • E7

Can you play in any other keys?

  • Thanks, was looking for something a lot heavier though, I'm no Noel Redding unfortunately.

Ahhhhhhh @OliverĀ Schick very good, very good šŸ‘
