You've created a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, and for that reason... I'm out.

Male cyclist along Oxford Street on his way home for work yesterday evening had a silver whistle in his mouth, blowing it at pedestrians both in or approaching the road. Sometimes quite close to their faces.
I followed for a bit, felt like I was getting a police escort.

Bloke yesterday on an orange bike with panniers through Whitechapel, using what sounded like a cowbell to warn people off. It was perfect, friendly at first but if needed could be proper loud. Looked like a normal bell. He said he got it from Halfords but I found out no more. Anyone know what it is?

I just shout oi. Seems to served me fine over the years.

a full horror b-movie scream works well

Shouting 'Ding' works. Has anyone tried a bear bell on a keyring?

Try and get a 'nope' out for every pedestrian in the road.

Yeah I shout oi as well. It works when someone's about to step in front of you, but the reason I want a bell is I got shouted at on the towpath yesterday after coming up behind someone. Scared the shit out of her even though I slowed down. I think in that situation I'd prefer to use a bell rather than calling out or shouting ding or whatever. The cowbell sounded friendly so I think it'd be ideal.

There's a shitty cycle path in Hammersmith kingsway the opposite way of the one way road. People always stepping into it and it narrow. I tried a bell but to give it a boost I always yell as well.

Do you enjoy heavy metal, bass-y hip hop or gabba?
Coz I’ve found a handlebar mounted Bluetooth speaker pumping out these kinds of tunes renders a bell utterly redundant.
