Someone's horse shat on a very busy footpath in the park near me (one of the paths through the Meadows for those who've been to Edinburgh. During the Fringe) and it was there for over a month. It's only grass I guess but literally hundreds of people must have trod in it. It seems extremely stupid that there's no fine for leaving horse poo on the road/footpath when dog fouling attracts a fine. I'm sure that it's nothing to do with the pastimes of politicians and their friends.

IIRC Horse Poop contains very few real dangerous bacteria, whereas dog poop contains proper nasty stuff. Probably cause dogues eat meat and horses do not.
Yes, and it'd be impractical to carry a shovel on your horse rides, and it's a much less common occurance, etc. Cold comfort when you ride through it by accident...
