  • You do your thing and go home at the end of the day, and that’s it.

    Sounds like a pretty healthy work life balance and one that I've made sacrifices for and worked hard to maintain.

  • True enough. I just get a bit creeped out when I hear staff at somewhere like Tesco or Sports Direct being called ‘colleagues’, to try and make it appear as if they actually give a toss about them. I can’t imagine why you’d ever feel involved in somewhere like that.

    Perhaps I just need to be less cynical...

  • What the fuck should they call them? My minimum wage partner/the cunt at the till/acne teen?

    colleague;
    a person with whom one works in a profession or business.

    Sound about right.

    Probably a little yes.
    No offence, but you seem to be bearing some sort of misplaced grudge. As for chain retailers killing off LBS, I would really like to see the data on that, as it seems a bit directed and extreme.
    Also, people will feel involved wherever they want to irrespective of workplace or salary. Did I go through a lot of colleagues whilst working there? Yeah. Did all of them, at one point or the other, get into the cycling world and feel more engaged. Totally.

    Just because some jobs are menial, doesn't mean people don't feel engaged.
    You ever speak to any teachers these days?
