I just shred/grate up some beeswax off a block then cover with pure gum turpentine (not mineral turpentine). The gum turpentine is just a carrier for the beeswax.
Put a lid on the jar and in leave in a warm spot and give it an occasional shake until the beeswax is fully dissolved. It should have a milky opacity.
I mix it as a liquid more than a paste but that is my preference.
I use the same mix on our furniture.
Apply thinly and then buff to a light lustre.
It is a non-destructive, protective coating.
I find the process very satisfying.
