Not enjoying the Timberwolf as much as I'd hoped. Which is a shame as I really want to love it. Slack seat tube and short reach make it a pig to climb on. Am I asking too much with a 140mm fork up front?

Just discovered this dropper through an eBay alert. Terrifying

(sound on for max effect)
£40 and 27.2 though... appeals to me as a #cheapskate for gravel bike lols

Yup!
Great for launching multi-tools during tea stops.
And yes, it did release spontaneously on a few occasions. Nowhere near as painful as I feared thankfully.
Now got a nice smooth KSLev one, though I remember being pretty frustrated at how slow it was to rise vs the TMARS one.
Still would recommend picking one up if you're on a budget or fancy dipping your toe in the world of dropper posts without committing £100+.
Replacing the cable was a pain as far as I recall though. They're don't take regular gear/brake cable ends, so I'd have to take a road brake cable and file down the end until it was small enough to fit in the release mechanism.

I actually already have a cheap dropper post* on my MTB (it's the Brandx one, think I got it for £50 or something) but have an eBay alert in case there's an ultra-cheap 27.2 mm one so that I can try it on a gravel bike to annoy everyone in that thread.
* to my shame, I bought it about 6 months ago and so far I've only ridden it on commutes

I think I want an MTB again.
I want something that I can ride up hills as well as down and generally have fun on, so thinking a "trail" bike of some-sort.
Full suspension as I fancy being able have fun on some of the trail centres - Forest of Dean and BPW probably.
Do I want 27.5 or 29 though? I am more inclined to 29 - I am 185cm tall, not sure if that is a valid reason for one over the other though.
Things that have caught my eye so far around the £2000 mark: YT Jeffsy AL, Nukeproof Mega 290, Commencal Meta TR

I think it looks very good in black, and the parts spec is excellent.

I went the other way, dremmel'd the wedge part to fit a normal gear cable end.
Need new rail clamps though, the bottom one's gone a bit banana.

Can anyone recommend a good skills day for jumping? Something near London would be ideal but i sometimes head west so could probably get to BPW or FOD if they're any good.
Has anyone tried any of the skills sessions at Olympic park?
Was up there yesterday and was a little gutted they had to stop the uplifts for 90min then run a reduced service for about an hour
