Finished the Main storyline of God of War now. Done all the collectibles, just have 5 valkyries left across midgard (3), helheim (1) and alfheim(1) to 100% all three realms, but only just getting started on neflheim and muspelheim but they're probably next on the list.

I've been playing NES Gradius on my Switch today, fuck me I'm shit... I used to be SO GOOD at that game!!!

When I was about 9 my teenage uncle lived with me and my mum for some reason, on receiving a NES for my birthday I was completely amazed when he actually bought me a nes game (radius) as this was coming from an uncle who would demand exact change when sending me to the shop a few doors down to buy him a mars bar and a can of coke to make sure I didn't buy any pick and mix with his money.

It soon turned out it was not quite the generous act it first seemed he was a huge fan of the arcade version and for months after that my mum would go to bed at 11pm and he'd be sitting playing it and she'd get up for work at 6am and he'd still be sitting there playing it in lingering fog of weed smoke.

I just bought a Switch and Zelda. First console I’ve owned in 10 years, hopefully I’ll get immersed in it and not be too hindered by my apparent lack of ability to remember what the buttons do.

Any recommendations for fun not to serious two player games? I’ll get Mario Kart eventually but would rather not spend another £45 right now.

Bit fed up to see Nintendo are rehashing Mario Bros U for Switch... Bit lame, pretty sure I had four or five great games when I bought my Wii U a year or so after release... MB Switch would've been fantastic... Been scrolling through the store and there is NOTHING I wanna play...

had an inkling i might've. memory is going as I get older.

Valkyrie at the top of musphelheim is difficult as fuck, going to have a go with some of the easier ones (hopefully) in Midgard because I’m going to have to level up to get past her.

I finished the trials yesterday (surprisingly easy as I'd already upgraded my mist armour as much as I could without the crest of flames and smouldering embers so was lvl 8.) only one I failed was the taking damage because I was pissing about trying to reflect firebombs with my shield not realising you literally couldn't take any damage at all.

The Valkyrie at the top is maddening, I can get her down to the last health bar easily before needing my ressurection stone but as soon as I get close to killing her she spams that undodgeable jump slam attack and eats whatever health I have left in seconds. I looked online and I've seen videos of people dodging it but I copy them exactly and it hits me. pure rage-fuel.

haven't been to niflheim yet, so no mist collection, I need asgardian steel to upgrade the dwarf armour, so need to defeat some valkyrie to do that. Had my arse kicked by the valkryie in alfheim, as I was finishing off that realm. Was looking for a shield upgrade that I thought was over there..

It wasn't.

Just logged on for a lunchtime session, first order of business was defeat the muspelheim valk, immediately dodged their valhalla attack (lol) and killed it in a couple attempts, then went on to do helheim, alfheim as well.

have you seen this online? there was a hidden puzzle in the collectors edition that leads you to a special axe pommel.

also do you know about the shattered gauntlet of ages talisman and what happens if you upgrade it to 3 slots and put certain gems in it? it's an infinity wars easter egg but the resulting attack (L1 + circle) is pretty powerful.
