does SRAM do a 14-something?
No, weird cassettes are Miche mainly or shimano 'junior'
-
• #8953
What about the arse end of an 11-40T Shimano combined with the 14T- of the 14-28T?
EDIT
-
• #8954
40t with a double will look ridiculous and heavy but yeah will work
-
• #8955
look ridiculous and heavy
So just like the fat cunt on it.

Looks are irrelevant and so is weight on a loaded touring/ultra bike.
11-36T PG1170 weighs 366g. What's an 14-40T frankensette going to weigh?
46-14 high gear is pretty shit though even for MY (edited to add clarity for the Dowsett fans) ultra racing.

winner of TCR had a 46/13 top gear.

Maybe he likes to ride downhill at 180 rpm. Doesn't make a jot of difference to me though does it?

So, about that crank-based powermeter that works with subcompact chainrings...
-
• #8960
Wouldn't all your problems be solved by using a PowerTap hub instead? Then you can run whatever cranks and chainrings you like.

I don't like their disc brake meters. £80 for their stupid rotor plus I've got a hard-on for the versatility of DT Swiss hubs now. Does Powertap actually do a 142mm disc hub?
Yes

It's a pain, although I managed to get a few PowerTap brake discs cheap off eBay. But if you wait for the new G4 MTB hub to be released it takes standard brake discs. They had a purple pre-production model at Eurobike I think.
-
• #8963
how often do you change rotors?
-
• #8964
And the PowerTap hubs do at least exist, unlike the thing you're looking for.
-
• #8965
Not seen that. I still need to fix the one I have.
I'd still need to build a new wheel and I'd lose my lovely star ratchet. -
• #8966
More often than roadies, less often than mountain bikers.
-
• #8967
The thing I want will be available next year according to P2M. When are the G4s out?
I still think I could buy their Rex1 MTB P2M and replace the crank arms with my 3D+ arms. No one can tell me if this is possible though so it'd be an expensive test.
-
• #8968
so £80 every 6 months?
-
• #8969
?
-
• #8970
for the rotor I meant
if P2M is certain then just go the bodgy 13/14-40 way for now, just dont post pictures of your bike.

I don't want Polar, I don't want Stages, I don't want any pedal powermeters, I don't want a Powertap disc powermeter.
-
• #8972
I'm too busy riding to post pics of my bike.

"The FSA version with super compact has a BCD of 120/90 and will be available in 2019. For further questions regarding this or a date of release, pleace contact FSA."

I don't suppose anyone has a Stages Dura-Ace 7710 Track PM/165 crankarm they'd consider selling?
Realise they're seen as a bit of a joke but due to an injury I'm going to be spending approximately 3 months training solely indoors and it would provide a bit of entertainment during that time.
Anyone have one that they've upgraded from or are not currently using?

I have a 167.5mm set you could have a lend of for the 3 or 4 months if you want. I bought it last year and have yet to fit them ha
Maybe I could do something with the 11-36T - does SRAM do a 14-something?
