Oooh yes please!
I was thinking of trying to park either at Portfield Retail Park, the Sainsbury's just by it, or the Homebase/Halford/Aldi just over the river Lavant.
Worst comes to worst, it looks like I could park in the Northgate car park for £3 for the whole of Sunday.

Cancelled due to adverse weather.

Must have been a difficult decision to make.

Both thoughts would have been spot on. On the Facebook group i did recommend the Northgate car park in the end. Secure and easy to find.
In terms of the cancellation, The route is heavily wooded and the risk of debris blowing into the road is real.
Overall I think they’ve taken the right decision but there’s been a very vocal ant-ride group who no doubt will see this as a victory. -

Undoubtedly the right decision. I've ridden in winds like that (actually stronger) and had to stop and get a taxi.

One of my colleagues in the office almost got seriously injured when a gust of wind snapped the latch off the part open window next to his desk and nearly caught him in the face.
Don't want to be hitting those gusts going downhill in the wet...
I’ve just received an email from the Velo south organisers releasing additiiinal parking.
The proposed site is a good 15 minutes ride from the start and there are plenty of free places to park closer to the start than that.
I live nearby (riding to the start) and know the area well so if there’s any interest I’ll put together a list of suitable places to park which are not simply bump up on the kirb.
