Post -brexit living in one's fully equipped 'Mechanic at your home' van might not be the worst option.

There are mechanics on here saying their shops order stuff via Wiggle..
It tended to be CRC for us as that was back when they were still pretty bargainous.
Shop was in a pretty rich area so a lot of customers with Dura Ace level kit and there was no way a small shop (2 owner/manager and 2 mech/sales) could be holding stock of £100+ cassettes etc so it was a choice between going to Madison who tier their trade pricing depending on the amount of stuff you buy so, again being a small shop, we'd be on the highest trade price plus I seem to remember they had a ridiculous high freepost threshold (possibly tiered like the trade pricing) so you'd be paying postage too, or goto CRC who sell to every Tom, Dick or Harry at less than the supplier sells to us, get free postage coz you spent over £9 and back then it was all Royal Mail so you got it in a day or two.

So if you were to start a bike shop what would you do?
Set fire to £10 notes instead?

We benefit from Evans on a daily basis. They walk in there looking to get a service and are told to bring their bike back in 14 days. They then walk out and google ‘bike shop’ and being the next closest shop they come round to us.
We were also talking only last week about how many times Evans stock range and next day click and collect has pulled us out the shit. It also helps if you have a mole on the inside for the staff discount.
Mixed feelings if Evans were to go under for me. -

Probably not the right thread for this, but I left for some similar reasons as you.
It's been a bit of a hit and miss. I still haven't decided whether my quality of life has improved, or whether I've become complacent.
Basically, despite it's foibles, I do miss London. -

Only Jedis and men of the cloth is their own crown race tools.
Crown race fitting tool, crown race removal tool or a crown race cutting tool?
Naturally, I have all three.

Compared to the ridiculous original price maybe but I think you’re paying a bit for the cinelli name on what’s a fairly bog standard bike, imho.

This is basically what Velofix do in the US, isn't it?

Dolan Precursa is cheaper and lighter.

This is essentially what Bikenation do in South London. They're at East Dulwich market and then go in a van to you to fix your bike. Minimum charge of £25 a job.

It was a reference to an OG forumenger who did this sort of work and was ahead of his time ...

Push Cycles in Newington Green have one for £100 less... LBS wins again... if it fits you that is

Agree with what others have said re: pricing and brand name tax but I know someone who bought his Mrs one and has been borrowing it with his fixie is out of action and he really rates it. Said it’s pretty stiff and responsive.

Yeah, if I was in the game for a new bike it would be a nice to have. Someone will get a good deal.

• #1147
Hmmm, time to get a refund on those Di2 levers I put on back-order.

poor attitude - this could have a real shitty impact on a lot of people employed by evans
Sounds like I'd best spend my £50 Evans vouchers soon
