  • Still looks pretty nice imo !

increase in bike and component theft

Hexlox to secure some of the components? I find it reassuring locking down the seatpost saddle and stem / bars. I also bought on of their wheel nut things so I only had to lock one wheel with a d lock.

  • Me too, it’s such a nice ride.

It’s a yellow Y from the Yorkshire Grand Depart.

  • I wonder if they feel cheated from a theft they’ll just kick the bike in instead? So the aim has been to build something without desirable extremities rather than protect desirable extremities....

  • Fair point, I’ve gone for option A and B with my beater. Protecting undesirable extremities :)

  • A few years back I parked my DeRosa outside Slough Tesco late one night.
locked to within 1" of it's life.
Nipped in for tinnies and returned 10min later to find somebody had nicked the front QR.
I assume some twerp saw biek and decided it was so good they just had to have something from it. wac
Made for an interesting ride home tho - much forward leaning to avoid wheel loss
    /csb

  • You’re lucky you didn’t find it locked with another, additional lock. People get all kinds of stupid ideas...

^this actually did happen to a friend once.

  • Bitch locking is the term which you refer to I believe

  • Haha, good to know ;)

  • I’ll be upgrading my Ribble to DA 7700 soon. Cranks in the groupset are a bit scuffed up so I’ll replace with some shinier ones- I’m torn between staying on-group or going with the IMO slightly nicer 7410s. Will i notice any difference in shifting using 8spd with the 9spd group?

  • My bro did it once when he saw his recently stolen clockwork locked up at his own office...

  • Just found this, would like to complete it..
Looking for a 10 pitch lockring, also looking for DA7200 track crankset..

    Someone ?

  • It needs DT cableholders that are fitted with an M5 bolt. I think Evans had them awhile back?

This is the same frame @psee did a build on awhile back. It's tight. I get toe overlap!

  • This is starting to take shape - SP dynamo,
and Clement USH tyres and WTB KOM rims cheap off Planet X.

Next step is to swap over the Flite, Cowbell bars and Ultegra cranks from my Pompino, and then I've got a cheap NW ring, Hylex brakes and a SRAM bar end to fit.

It'll also be getting mudguards, racks, basket etc but I'm not sure what combo. Think this is gonna end up ultra functional.

The hound is unimpressed at it taking up his usual spot.

  • Nice Orange, dog, view and it's 650B ?

  • Top notch beater. I really need to build something sensible for winter.
Has bike theft gotten worse recently? Last I heard nobody who'd locked their bike properly with a decent d lock had had anything nicked.

  • Something for the weekend

  • Reports of angle grinders in the wild now, and chavs with huge bolt croppers.

Your donated torches are still lighting the way out front!

  • Yep, 650b, 42c tyres and looks like should be plenty of clearance for mudguards

  • 👌

    Road crankset?

  • Still love that

  • Road crankset?

Pourquoi pas? As long as it clears, the lower Q can only be a good thing.

  • No problem, just curious :)

I have one of those (albeit a slightly different model)

  • Anyone know where I can find a bracket to fit a dynamo light to one of the fork rack bosses? Ie to turn it through 90 degrees so it faces forward not to the right.
