Yeah. Not there yet but something along those lines.

I think I will start out by trying this
-
• #1180
if the blue nut has flat edges, and the far side rack strut eyelet is slotted it could be tool free to remove.
-
• #1181
Yes!
Smart thinking. I am not sure if it will pull in if the forks are threaded tho. -
• #1182
don't you just need a slightly longer axle/fixing bolt to accommodate the width of the rack-ends on the outside of the fork blades?
-
• #1183
Tap the inside of the axle for the off side nut?
-
• #1184
Gravel fork on my mrs bike isnβt threaded, takes a female bolt on the axle
-
• #1185
Aaaaand anodise ...
-
• #1186
And then maybe do the rack support like Hunter dropouts?
That way you can make it adaptable to both 12 and 15mm axles. -
• #1187
Hmm custom rack tho.
-
• #1188
Doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to use it on other bikes in the future.
I'd go for adjustable mount between stays and platform as well. -
• #1189
I like this idea. With an appropriate through-axle you could even tap both ends and fit a standard rack with M5/M6 bolts. You'd need to remove the rack to remove the wheel but π€·ββοΈ
If bloody through-axles were bloody standardised at all an axle with rack mounts would be a very popular product I'm guessing

I made a new tool. I should have done this years ago.
-
• #1191
Aaah... a clamp!
-
• #1192
I have modified a G clamp for braze ons. Not just a clamp :-)
-

for braze ons
Now it makes sense to me. Handy tool!
-
• #1194
Isn't that a cramp?
-
• #1195
Not sure what you mean. Crimp? If so, no.
-
• #1196
I haven given the frame a couple of hidden mud guard mounts as the dropouts already had eyelets. Other than than I have just refitted all the braze ons to the new seat tube. I am quite pleased over all.

Not sure if my 12mm TA fork is in the minority but the thread is capped and the axle canβt extend beyond the fork blade.
Had to use some washers on the head side to get an axle that was 1-2mm longer than stock to work.

Don't know what hubs you're gonna use, but you could machine some thru axle end caps together with some rack mounts.
Something like shortening these:

I am thinking about making a rack for thru axle forks.

Mad skills!
Usually means something rad. Carry on
