  • Im after suggestions for places in south London.

What are the most quiet, safe, family friendly areas?

I would prefer places as far out of town as possible, maybe even North Kent/ North Sussex borders.

    Cheers!

  • Catford.

  • Ask some racists where they live.

  • I like where I live but it's taken.

  • Brighton, most southerly suburb.

  • i thought Buckingham Palace was north of the river

  • Borough? On the river and has good transport connections.

Not sure I'd risk going any further.

  • Blackheath and Greenwich are traditionally good places for families. Crime rate is significantly lower in the nice bits compared to the rest of SE.

Good transport links to Canary Wharf and central. Open space. Decent pubs.

The downside is that the nicest bits are pretty snobby and pricey. I find them less snobby and more tolerable than the nicest bits of SW though.

  • Streatham/Best Norwood

  • Beckenham - Suburban hell. I like it.

  • Raynes Park, hits all these - quiet, safe, family friendly areas

  • Another vote for Blackheath/Greenwich area. Saying that, couldn't afford there so ended up in Eltham which is quiet, leafy, cheap, and apparently there's great schools. And takes barely 30mins to cycle out to the Kent hills

Central Hackney to leafy suburbs was the best thing I've done since living in London

  • With easy access to Kent lanes. You have to go over Crystal Palace to get into town whether you like it or not.

  • Camberwell <3

  • Catford.

    Also this ^

and Brockley, Herne Hill, Nunhead...All of SE London is great really :)

  • Another vote for Blackheath/Greenwich.

Other than being a ball ache to get to/from a lot of non-Canary Wharf bits of London and dry cleaners closing too early on weekdays its hard to fault.

Rolling down the hill outside the observatory is probably going to be the biggest risk to your kids.

  • Oh, yeah. Waterlink way is fine in the summer and/or if you're burly and brave. Off limits in the winter/darkness for all but the most robust.

  • Dulwich Village

  • Richmond Hill

  • Go on Right Move and draw a big circle around south London. Filter by most expensive property first and notice which areas come up. They are the nice ones. Live there. PROBLEM RESOLVED.

  • Yeah @Klar I'm with you, Waterlink Way gives me the heebiejeebies after 4pm no matter the season

  • Blackheath is full of cunts.

    Just sayin

  • This is true

  • Clapham Common of the East
