Anyone have a white Arai helmet (in medium) they're looking to sell?

I'm a bit stuck working out how to get my bike out of my mate's lock up in the evening and then onto a mot in the morning.
What are the risks of riding it un-MOT'd at night ~1 mile to then ride to the MOT in the morning?
Cheers

• #12555
Can't you just go straight to the MOT from the mates if its only a mile difference? You're only allowed to ride it without MOT if you're on your way to a prebooked MOT

• #12556
None.
-
• #12557
No. He works, I work. So it will be closed. Although you've made me think maybe I should look for one open late.
Finding a time when we can both meet at the lockup is a struggle. Tying that in with a daytime seems impossible.
@skinny - cheers. I guess if it's booked in for the next day and something did happen I could probably talk my way out of it.

Anyone ever had or ridden a triumph daytona 600 or 650? the 675 is out of budget but the others come up real cheap and clean
-
• #12559
Its a mile tho. Just ride it
-
• #12560
Do you mean then just leave it outside the shop overnight?
-
• #12561
I'm confused.
Your mates lock up is a mile from your place? Ride it to yours the night before (the risky bit)
Then legally ride to the garage in the morning anyway -
• #12562
I think we're talking at cross purposes.
Yes that's what I'm going to do.
Cheers

Just ride it home, a mile is nothing, and nobody is going to pick you up. I don't think MOT is linked to ANPR, so you won't set one off automatically, only if your plate is manually run by a traffic cop.

This. VED and insurance are real time checked by ANPR, but MOT is not.
Powers that be keep thinking of moving to a 2 year MOT schedule, would help me get my fleet of decaying vehicles going much easier (£55 a hit and they are always well in excess of the MOT standard before I go to it).
Older daytona sparked my interest also, mainly because light and that sound track. Borrowed a mates bandit 600, and anothers kawasaki equivalent and whilst faster than what I'm riding, didn't want to own either, just not very interesting, though make a good commuter/courier bike (what they use them for).

I've just heard back from MCE and it seems that after reading my complaint letter which quoted the financial ombudsman's advice to me, they have now discovered that their email and subsequent phone call regarding charging me £20 ex vat per day for storage of my damaged bike plus delivery fees back to me, were made in error and there's no fees for me to pay. The bike will be returned to me for free in the near future.
Very convenient. -

Wonder how many people just cough up the cash to them...
-
• #12567
It's mostly opportunistic as people seem to regards Insurance Brokers as some sort of higher authority as opposed to a business.
I did something similar to what @PhilDAS did and just flew off the handle and played back recorded phone conversations to them. Suddenly the shift manager really wanted to 'have a chat'. -

£400 to insure the BB in london, garaged.
Was 200 in chelmsford.Argh.

At least you’re not paying 900 for third party on a 600...
that was before my claim so next year I’ll be fucked royally in the bottom -

I'd like o say ABS sensor, but I don't see any tabs on the rotor.
-
• #12573
That was my initial thought but all gen 2 RSV's have this without the rotor tabs that I can see.

Could be wheel speed?

Just downloaded a manual and you're right. Threw me a bit as always had this on the front.
All I can say is that it seemed like a good idea at the time...
I said I'd help the parents do a few things to their place over the Easter weekend and the wife wanted the car to go to her parents whilst I was away. Motorbike seemed like the quickest / "easiest" thing to do.
Definitely regretted it after leaving home on Easter Friday at 4.30am to catch an early Euro Tunnel. Driving rain and I was soaked before even getting to France. 5am ish, is never a good time to find out that your goretex textile suit is no longer fully waterproof.
Made it to their house about 5pm local time, the same night, and did the return journey the following Wednesday.
Got the train into the office on the Thursday as I couldn't face getting on the bike again.
