  • Never really understood this idea that a custom bike you'd have designed with zero ability to change your fit. What's the joke again, find any two bike fitters and you'll get four different fits? Either way even if your fit is good it can still change. It can change due to injuries - middling or large, due to seasonal fitness levels, change in bike usage - race vs winter training etc, changes in component setup as minor as pedal/shoe stack or stem angle, and god forbid you might need to one day sell the thing.

  • Clearly, the solution is to buy 4 custom bikes, all with immovable fits and slammed stems.

  • Eeewwww. It's like someone's tried to copy a Jones frame and truss fork but got it really, really badly wrong.

  • Did you notice much the extra weight at all?
    IIRC it's around 12.5kg.
I used to ride a CdF and got rid of it because of that.

  • Not terribly bothered by the weight when it comes to gear, maybe i should be..
Its the first "new" bike i've bought since 2001 so i'm just stoked to have functional brakes and gears..

  • Looks smart, Id want to get those hoods rolled round the bars a bit though! they look like they are about to take off!

  • But, but I thought gravel bikes was all about perky angles and spacer stacks..!

    I'll look into it, cheers..

  • Eeewwww. It's like someone's tried to copy a Jones frame and truss fork but got it really, really badly wrong.

My thinking too, the Jeff Jones fork are much skinners, whether those are almost a normal thickness.

  • That's a bit big for you, no?

  • Anyone actually riding an Arkose?
I tried one. Looks like even their smallest size is too long for me though. 😥

  • Size down, embrace the seatpost

  • Size down from Small?

  • Yeah I didn't read. fail

  • I would probably get the womens model if it wasn't for the super-sloping TT. Fugly AF.

  • Rondo Ruut AL?

  • Huh? Magura / Shimano combo?

  • I looked into doing this and decided it was too complicated/impossible/absurdly expensive. But I don't know anything so maybe I gave up too early.

  • I have the maguras, now I only need the tiagra levers for ultimate frankenbike 26er monstercross!

  • You'd need hydro levers

  • Yeah strs405. I need to figure out how they made this work first. Shimano are open system, while magura are closed if I remember correctly.

  • Depends on the version of those no? I did a hose change to steel braided on one once like above and was surprised to find it wasn't a closed system.
I'd be more concerned withe the pressure/volume of fluid required.

  • That's the most DBAD build I have seen in a while

  • strs405

Ahh I didn't know they made tiagra hydro levers, excuse me

  • I have the hs33. They are 100% closed system.
