My commute bike has 38c, mudguards, a rack, one gear, and this morning 2 x pairs of tyres for someone.
I was very tired.

That is commitment. You must have hella strong thumbs or amazing levers.

Used to do that on the BMX to try and stop 3-cornered jack punctures. Put new tyre on, over old worn one.
