I think that a mixture of sweating, hairy chest, sodden top and wind can wreak havoc on my nipples.
Vaseline normally does the trick, I've not tried anything else, but in the winter a tight top underneath is my go to. I don't do that in summer because I'd probably die from heat exhaustion
