  • Sorry, assumed this was the Brexit thread.

  • Trick is to strap 5k to your body each trip out of Switzerland, no one notices and if you’re caught it’s not enough to worry about. Every other month and you’re good.

  • swiss cheese is shite

  • Right, well, I'm definitely in the 'fucked if rates go up hugely' category. Got 7 months to go on my 2 year fixed deal and at the end of that period, should be down from 90%LTV to 85%LTV which means that I should be able to get a slightly better rate with the same lender. Income nearly half of what it was when we purchased due to change of jobs so realistically not in a position to remortgage. Will just need to bend over and take whatever the bank will give us.

  • Nobody does cash anymore - it's all about the bitcoins.

Just print a few out, stick them up your hoohoo, and nobody will suspect a thing at the border.

  • Remember you might be able to switch ~3 months before your deal ends.

  • Nobody does cash anymore - it's all about the bitcoins.

Luckily Bitcoins fit perfectly between the pointy sections of a giant Toblerone.

  • likewise - we have 11 months to go on 2 year fixed. Can't decide if we should try to renegotiate now and pay the fees

  • we will be in limbo for even longer...

    ftfy

  • Ain't no party like a Quaalude party

  • Your story is full of holes!

  • swiss cheese is shite

The realest shit you ever wrote!

  • I've just bought a house.

    Well... offer made... offer accepted.

Now to figure out what happens next.

It is in Crouch End and has a room that can take bicycles which is always the important thing.

I now have the problem of what I do about my £15k shortfall in funds to actually close this... but I feel that this is how these things work, and that something will magically happen.

  • have you considered waiting until March?

  • Crouch End and has a room that can take bicycles

    @cake 's house?!

  • Are you mad! Buying a house! Have you not been reading the Dammit Prophecies of Doom?!

  • Nice one boss man.

Look forward to seeing you at norths.

  • Those Specialized branding takeovers of the site have finally paid off!

    Woot!

  • Norths will be underwater and simultaneously drowning in negative equity mate, don't think that Highgate Hill will protect you.

  • Are you mad! Buying a house! Have you not been reading the Dammit Prophecies of Doom?!

Do these prophecies take into account living in a fire death trap tower block?

  • there wont be any fire after brexit

  • I'd agree that properties are overpriced, I'm just not convinced that Brexit will break the market that much. As it says, even the BoE stress test scenario is only predicting a 35% drop in prices.

  • We want to buy a house that has planning permission.

The only hitch is that the seller doesn’t know the identity of the freeholder, who has never collected the peppercorn ground rent. It’s a 999 year lease with ~880 years left.

Our solicitor says the original dwelling needed permission from the freeholder and so would any extension.

Apparently we can get an insurance policy in the unlikely event a freeholder pops up and starts being awkward. No idea if we’re talking hundreds or thousands. The vendor’s very slow solicitor is looking into that.

Anyone ever been in the same boat?
