I wonder if Bottas is putting himself in a position where he doesnt have to help Hamilton (ie. always behind him) because it seems whenever he is in front or competing for the front his race gets ruined by "strategy" calls....or perhaps Bottas is just fickle on a race by race basis on what he gets out of the car

Down on power, but the Red Bull can still fight for wins. I wouldn't be surprised if they're closer to the front with the Honda.
Also, I'd happily see Ocon take Bottas' seat at this point.

Was lucky to nab a decent spot yesterday and got to see Verstappen pull a fast one on Vettel coming out of the pit lane. Thought it was a ballsy thing to do considering his/their previous.

Even if the power is like-for-like, simple fact is the Honda has had fewer failures than the Renault. Red Bull's points count would be quite a bit higher just by taking out the DNFs.
Plus on the Renault engine there are lots of parts just on the externals that I can see that Red Bull could make better (lighter, stiffer, stronger) out of composites, because Renault are not capable yet. And the simple fact is the Red Bull chassis is slightly compromised by the way it has to be designed around fitting the Renault engine, which itself is designed specifically for the Renault chassis, not Red Bull's. With the Honda engine, the two will be designed together.

Yeah the simple fact of the matter is though, Renault are seriously taking risks to gain power at the expense of reliability , hence why they are way ahead of Honda and they have to supply more engines to the field.
Honda i feel this year are just steadying the ship after last years disaster- gaining reliability but not improving speed or power delivery - as soon as they do that next year, expect failures! -

i thought they discovered some RBR failures were not actually engine, but their own components - even though they didnt shout that from the roof tops - last race out it was their clutch system (which max had issues with this race IIRC)

Kimi has a lot of valuable knowledge about the Ferrari engine and how Ferrari deploys the hybrid system. This is not a standard setup shared throughout all the Ferrari-engined teams, they have to work that bit out for themselves. Because Sauber run a Ferrari engine, they can immediately make their car faster by using whatever deployment strategy Kimi tells them Ferrari would use.
I would expect similar has happened with Daniel Ricciardo. He knows all about the hybrid deployment strategy that Red Bull uses on the Renault engine. Renault know they aren't using one as good as Red Bull because they can see it on the telemetry and they can see where they are losing pace. They aren't that far behind Red Bull in the grand scale of things and this is one thing which could mostly close the gap, along with having a top driver.
Danny Ric must be kicking himself now he knows there's a seat at Ferrari though. That's where he wanted to be really, he could have been a championship winner there.
