Yeah, so fuck all. I can easily get 40s on someone just by shit talking or distracting them or getting them waste the night before or letting them do all the work early. So many cheaper ways to beat your mates up a climb :)
When we did our Tdf trips, my old LBS mate and me would always sit back on Day 1 and let all the testosterone fly so the headbangers were fucked for the rest of the week. Then we'd smash the bigger climbs later on while they nursed fatigue, depleted glycogen stores, hangovers, etc. :)
Just got around to doing this, 200 g off each wheel is worth 15 s on a 10 km, 10% climb at 275 W. Balls.
If you're a weakling like me though at 100 W it's 40 s.
