Rab Ascent?

Yes. Other good bivis are available.

Bought an Outdoor Research Molecule.

Looks great. How small does it pack down?
-
• #206
I presume the regular length is approx. same size if not fractionally smaller?

I've had an OR Helium for about two years now and like it (but it is my first and only bivy). The molecule wasn't available then but looking at it I would have probably gone for it if buying now.
I have some cord attached to a clip and with one of those slidy things to adjust guyline lengths. Attach it to the loop at the top of the hoop and then the ground/rock/tree/bike on the other end for some tension to keep it upright. Otherwise it flops down if not zipped up.

What 3×3 tarp do people recommend? I've got a builder's tarp has done the job for a while but I think an upgrade is justified.
I know you can make one yourself but for once I'm going to opt to pay someone to do it for me as, whilst I would love to be able to sew, I physically cannot start another hobby as my flatmate would murder me.
Pic from this weekend. Culra bothy. Piss poor pitching. But I didn't get rained on and I didn't get midged to death so that was nice.

3m x 3m?
This is the dog's bollocks: http://www.trekkertent.com/home/home/9-cuben-fibre-flat-tarp.html

Oof, too expensive for me! I'm thinking more along the lines of the cheap but decent AliExpress ones, but I don't know which ones are any good.
3m x 3m?
Yeah. I'd like to be able to do some of these fully-enclosed "storm-proof" pitches if necessary. With a 3×3m tarp, bivvy bag, some cord and pegs it'd be super tough and still lighter than a tent. Plus someone else can fit under if it the weather isn't apocalyptic.

Edit: maybe I should get a smaller one though...

I've got a D & D superlight tarp which is the winning combination of huge and excellent. I know @7Üp likes his too
-
• #212
You want a DD superlight. Exactly what you describe.

Hero! Setting a tarp up with a bike was something I found difficult with my current tarp as it's too small to do properly. The DD looks like the perfect size to have great coverage and plenty of room underneath.
-
• #216
Yeah, you can fit two under there (although the krampus probably makes that easier, being so big).
-
• #217
Excellent. Just have to wait until I get given back the several-hundred-pounds that I'm owed by the electricity/gas people... then I'll order one and try it out

Lomo do a good value 3x3 tarp for £25

I kipped on the ridge last night after the mend our mountains (bmc, not the cycling team) event. Wind was from all angles so found what felt most sheltered spot just below Back Tor and got some kip. Not a great pic of setup.

I need to buy a decent bivvy in London today! Any suggestions?
I have an army goretex as backup but it weighs a kilo and I want to half that.

Snow and rock or cotswolds, in Covent Garden would be a good place to start

Nice one.

Not with that attitude
First time I slept in it I woke up soaking wet.
For the £40 more my rab was it’s infinitly better. I’ve woken up in puddles and it’s been dry inside. It’s also big enough for me to be comfy.
