i think when it becomes impossible for Ferrari to win this years title, and heads are on the chopping block, expect "finger pointing" at vettel to start........

Watched the doco "McLaren" yesterday. Didn't know anything about their origins. Now I do.

Yep, Hamilton has a habit of acting like a bit of a dick-wad out of the car but Vettel seems to save his bad behaviour for key moments in races. This is why for all his wet eyed antics when things haven't gone his way i'm still a fan of Hamilton as he still has the ability to amaze on the track. Vettel seems like a nice bloke but his moments of shear brilliance feel few and far between.

Haven't watched it yet, should do, what Bruce McLaren and his buddies achieved when they came over here was incredible. I hate the rose tinted view of the F1 past but BM and Colin Chapman optimise the workshop creativity/ingenuity that i guess (hope) a lot of people on here still love.

i thought it was ok - not as good as say Senna --- anyone seen The Green Hell yet??

Bit easier to make a doco when there's so much more footage (and people, probably) available.

they should have backed him this season over Vettel

TBH i think the Vettel-Ferrari partenership will be over next year . its clear vettel isnt happy and overdriving to prove his status in the team - if Ferrari dont win the title this year with it having the better car most of the season (so Merc say at least) and it being down to dumb driving mistakes and dumb strategy errors - heads will have to roll.

Indeed, only two WDCs on the grid next year too!

Is Sauber any good? I've no idea. Don't follow F1 that closely, but have been following the Räikkönen situation as it's been in the papers all the time.

One team saying another team have the better car to make their performance seem better. Not a new tactic by any means, and one frequently employed by Hamilton in particular to downplay his bad days.

Ferrari haven't been too bad on strategy (especially relative to previous seasons), but Vettel has made a pair of pretty bad mistakes this year.

Still, hopefully Ferrari do have the better car and it leads to a damn tense finish!

Rear end of the mid-field I'd say. They've been struggling a lot in the last few seasons, but have made good progress this year. Definitely assisted by the improved Ferrari power unit, but made good progress themselves also.

Well, I guess Räikkönen just wants to drive and compete.

Definitely not, but Alfa Romeo are a title sponsor so in a way they're almost a Ferrari B-team. I imagine they get a lot of value from associating him with their brand.

there HQ is down the road from where he lives - so suits him, and they get an experienced drive to push the car forward, and if required in 2019 follow ferrari-B-team orders like good boys.....

He'll be in the Ferrari the year after, would be my prediction.

Replacing vettel?

Kimi's been abject for years. He's the only driver of a top 3 car who has yet to win. And Grosjean was getting regular podiums in the Lotus/Enstone, so we don't really know if that car was actually very, very good.

IMO still a better wingman than Valteri.
