Hi there - looking for some advice.
I had to replace my rear axle last night.
The original has shoulders to support the cartridge bearings.
I've replaced this with a solid threaded bar.
The bearings sit inside the hub on a lip, so they can't move inwards. I've put enough nuts and spacers on the axle so that it sits tight between the dropouts. Hope the diagram explains this:
This arrangement seems to be working - it got me safely to work this morning. But will it work long term? Or I am heading for some spectacular bearing fail very soon? Thanks in advance
