• I missed having a simple and cheap beater bike to lock up without having to worry about it. Since I rebuilt the Bottecchia with modern parts, I had an unused Shimano LX groupset in the parts bin so I kept an eye out for a suitable frame. I wanted a frame which is cheap, light, practical and kind of cool. Yesterday I found a frame which ticked all the above boxes: 50€ shipped, lighter than my steel frames, clearance for 35c+ and mudguards and it has all the nice details of a vintage cannondale. So the plan is to transfer most of the old parts from the bottecchia and run it as a cheap 1x or to turn it into a single speed to make it a little lighter. For the cockpit I‘ll be using a long ritchey mtb stem and a set of risers. It‘ll also get a pair of sks longboards for commuting duties. I think I can build it for less than 100€ in total. Really looking forward to have a cheap bike again :)
