• Hi All, a friend of mine is a bit down on her luck and I think getting her mobile will help. She’s quite short and hasn’t ridden for ages so isn’t very confident, and has mentioned a preference for small wheels, so if anyone has something suitable please let me know.

A bike with gears, ideally hub gears like a 3 speed Sturmey set up would be ideal for the low maintenance, and a folder of some sort would be a bonus. Condition-wise I’m pretty flexible as I’m happy to rebuild/tune up before passing it on, thanks in advance.

  • As well as the above I think any step through style frame bike would also be fine regardless of wheel size, thanks.

  • Bump, show me what you got...

  • I have a Raleigh Folding shopper ( I think it's an Eclipse) with rear rack, that was in excellent condition but has been sitting in the garden for a while - rust on hub centres , down tube where cable braze ons are etc but paint is otherwise pretty good doesn't look too bad at all - bike should all clean up ok.
It's in High Barnet - I can squirt some wd40 at it and pump tyres up. If it's any use to you, you are welcome to it free of charge.
    Si

  • Hi Ken! I have a Dawes Kingpin my mum wants me to sell, bit dusty but nothing wrong with it, the original plastic grips need changing, was serviced before being stored at the back of the garage. Good examples go for around £120, which is what I am asking.

  • Wow thanks Si, that’s super kind of you, it sounds good, will PM shortly...

  • Thanks Tom, is the Kingpin with you in London? Cheers

  • I can go a fetch it this weekend and in the meantime send some pics.

  • I have a Dawes Kingpin Frame and bars you can probably have for free or for a donation to the Markham project (Dancing James has the details). You'll have to blitz it for rust I expect...

I have to strip the wheels / crankset off but you can have the rest. It's locked outside my office near Condor. I built it to cycle back and forward to waterloo but then got a cheap Taiwanese folder which has taken over in the running of things (although it is clearly made of cheese)

  • Hi Dancefloor, I'd be interested in your kingpin frame for a donation if its still available? Is it a folding version?

    Thanks
