Kinda - it grabs it, then serves it to your calendar app

hey, that works!
Well worth the £1.50
I didn't realise it was paid now - i've only ever used the free version.
Glad it works though!

How much was the customs? I've worked it out as about £40 on a £160 phone.

They marked it as MP4 player with a value of £21 (I believe) so it was only £11. I had no idea they were doing this. No problem with paying full customs amount.
I believe there is an option to insure against customs. Pay £6 and BG will refund any customs charge. Maybe should've tried it.

So bit the bullet and got one from eglobal for £235 6gb/64gb, turns out the actual unit is the slight bigger then my MI A1 so not as massives as I thought. Not the biggest fan of MIUI buts its come on leaps and bounds from when I first tried it. It's really bloody speedy no lags no issues so far, great battery decent camera. Reminds me of my faithful Nexus 6p.
Decent phone

Nice! Can't see it at that price though, do you have a link? I just had a poke around on XDA but it looks like there's no actual ROMs for it yet, just TWRP. If you do plan on flashing a new ROM at some point I'd recommend unlocking the bootloader now because it can take up to 3 months to get approved.

Had a look and can't see it much under the £280 price range. Must have got mine in a flash sale.

This isn't an Android thing - looking for recommendations for best numeric keypad phone currently available. Just for texts and calls but with reliable network connection, no keypad lag, decent voice connection, decent amount of storage, backup to micro-SD. No flip-up / slide nonsense.
I've been using an old Nokia with numberpad and small touchscreen as a main phone, which is kind of fine - except now the touchscreen is dying so I can't reliably get into things. I need a new phone. I've been putting it off because I just don't like any of the current smartphones. I might still go for a smaller one like Sony XZ1 Compact. But - is there an actual decent numberpad phone around?
EE shop had some cheap Mobiwire ones on the wall that felt fairly nice, but no reviews. Nokia have quite a few retro ones as well.

Iphone 5S is about to kick the bucket so I think after reding up on recommendations here I've narrowed down my choices to Nokia 6.1 or a Motorola G6. Both have + & - points but seem to be pretty comparable. However, I've not found either in stores here (in Canada) to actually see them in the metal so I'm going to have to take a punt.
G6 is $330 plus tax via Amazon.
Nokia is $320 plus tax (also via Amazon - ad says Nokia 6 (2018) but apprently buyers have confirmed it's a 6.1)Anyone who has looked at both got any pointers of which to go for before I'm forced to randomly choose.

I came across my nexus 7 which has a fatal flaw....
...the WiFi won't work.Might be a silly question, but I guess I can plug it into a laptop and install a more up-to-date version of Android right?
Can I also upload games manually?
Any other ideas of what I can use it for?
Cheers

just gone from 5s to G6 (Amazon UK edition with 4GB RAM and 64 memory) and I'm pleased and impressed.
Not seen the nokia so can't compare but:
Size and feel are good even though it is much bigger than the 5s it became comfortble to use pretty quickly.
Android version is pretty vanilla which was on of my goals.
Has a 16:9 ratio on the screen- something to be aware of, I dont have a problem with this.
i believe the cameras might be better on the Nokia but have found this one to be fine for my needs.

Thanks! It's good to get an insight, especially when your last phone was the same. When you got the G6 was it pre-updated with Oreo or was this something you had to do when setting up the phone?

Yes and yes (assuming you can find the APK).
A USB ethernet adapter would be an option

USB ethernet adapter
Ooooh I did not know these existed. Thanks!

• #20044
Thanks.
That would make it much easier to put stuff on. Then I can use it as a portable media player for the train / flights.
Still a bit fucked off that the WiFi has died tho, as I was hoping to use it as a media remote.

Flashing new firmware may sort that out

Flashing new firmware
Don't suppose you can recommend a firmware? (or know of an idiots guide)
Its rooted, but I haven't done anything with it for years other than allowing external USB sticks to mount when I first got it.

Google is killing Inbox. Sad times. I’m so used to email behaving that way.
-
• #20048
That's annoying.

I just emailed Sundar Pichai asking him to not kill it.

But aren't they just incorporating lots of inbox features into Gmail?
I knew there'd be a simpler solution, just didn't know what it was :)
