Sometimes you get lucky on LeBonCoin.fr, especially if you are far from a big city.
The Champagne region is a short drive from Paris therefore vintage bike dealers drive over to pick up any italian steel / look / anything with Campag priced sub 150€.

Exactly. Much less choice and general volume of sales than in Paris (or even Lyon), but equally more chance of a proper bargain.
I'm oddly tempted by this mean chopper-style old tandem for 300€, but, storage space, getting it on the back of the car... and the fact that I'd probably never get around to restoring and using it...

We stopped over in Reims on the Italy roadtrip. They seemed to have a lot of teens on bikes but didn’t see anything spectacular. Maybe the dealers already cleaned them out.

Most ridiculous bargain I've seen on leboncoin since... possibly ever.
It was apparently genuine too, she was just clearing out the garage, wanted it gone. I saw the ad 40 mins after it had been posted, too late, already sold.
She sounded like she'd already said that to a few people by then too...
