  • After an accident in spring encouraged me to slow down my riding for a while to recover, I made the decision to buy a Brompton (S2L) over summer. I'm enjoying it a lot.. a lot more than I thought was possible. I'm thinking of taking it with me on holiday later this month on a plane - and the B&W folding box seems like a sensible idea. Has anyone got any good or bad experiences of this, or any better suggestions?

  • A few things I'd consider with that one. It's pretty heavy so if you're planning to use that as your only luggage you won't get much more in it. It's also quite big, it's too big for standard hold luggage for some airlines and a lot of airlines don't do free sports equipment luggage any more.

  • I would get the suitcase version than the standard box IMHO

  • The hard case is way better.

  • I had one of the previous incarnation of those. It was very heavy and slightly over maximum luggage size. But it did always get through.

When airline security fucked it up by prying the (unlocked) locks open, I replaced with with the soft-sided bag. That's been working just fine ever since. When folded, the Brompton is a surprisingly tough little package.
