  • The quick info:

When: Saturday 15th Sept to Sunday 16th Sept
Where: Berkshire and Oxfordshire - the lovely Thames Valley and Chilterns. Setoff and return from Tilehurst Rail Station, 1hr from Paddington and cheap tickets with lots of bike space.
What: 50-60km each day of doubletrack, singletrack, dirt roads, etc. Rideable on a hybrid with chunky tires upwards, although you will have the most fun on an MTB, if you have one.
Camping: We will wild camp in a beautiful secluded spot on Saturday night.
Am I welcome: Yes, if you have a positive attitude and enough half-decent kit to come round
Mood: Open and supportive, stopping to chill often, making a grand old fire in the evening

What do I need to do:

    1. Confirm you are coming by replying to this thread
    2. Check your bike, bags, camping kit etc, or if you don't have something ask here, we can lend stuff
    3. Buy a return train ticket to Tilehurst
    4. Watch this space for further announcements!
  • Poor @7Üp :'(

  • trying hard to make my route as adventurous as going to Slovenia

  • P.S. I've invited many people I've ridden with off the forum, and a load I haven't but expressed interest. If you know anyone else tag em down here, and also of course open to people coming along that aren't on the forum but like this kind of thing.

  • Double bollocks.....I've been asked, and accepted an overtime shift on the Sunday......there may be a way of doing a bit, sit down and pretend I'm gonna camp, then get off home.......

  • Doable on an Arkose with 37 Riddlers? If so I'm in.

  • :( wish I was there.

  • Yes! but please set them up tubeless if possible, bring spare tubes, patches, etc.

  • Wish I could come on this. Building up an vagabond which will be ready on time but I have guests that weekend.

  • So up for this, anymore got a cheap light tarp? I have a bivi bag set up but nothing over my head if it rains.

I have a couple of drybags to sell or swap, one with helpful webbing, if anyone wants them?

  • I'm interested too. Sadly I'm not free until later Saturday. Maybe I could ride out on my own early evening to find you.

  • I think @richardshill is pretty local to this too. I'm potentially in for it, but also not free until later on the Saturday

  • whats that shot on?

  • I've managed to keep Sat+Sun free, so there's a slim possibility I'll be along, but the trains are pretty fucky from Norwich, and not cheap. 10:27 from Paddington?

    Doable singlespeed(mtb)?

  • that should be fine!

  • mju/portra

  • yes, singlespeed friendly route!
if you can get an earlier train from paddington around 9-9:30 that would be ideal, but if it's not possible that one should be fine too

  • Certainly am but only have road bieks at the moment plus have had plans made for me Sat night (litany of excuses, etc.)...
If there's a route planned with stops, could roll up via the lanes and give you all cheer / some beers (paniers ftw :)

  • Sounds interesting,

Should know closer to the time if I'm free, but I'd like to come along.

  • In!

@free-tard only if there is a chance of rain I will bring a tipi tent suitable for 3 (similar to one in platypus's photo) so happy to share.

  • oh yeah, if someone doesn't have an MTB but would like one and is confident on them, I can loan out a nice 26" singlespeed genesis io - medium/large size

  • im interested

  • Thanks! @yakut

  • Can I just get a firmer sense of the plan? how many are going so far and what time is kick off?
