How often do you actually ride gravel where trendy wide tyres are needed? Could you press the caad12 into commuting duties and just use the mtb for actual off road riding? 29ers can be pretty fast on the road with the sus locked out and tyres pumped up.
I've made do with a road bike, mtb and Brompton for a bit and have most bases covered, but then I have little interest in cx or soft off-roading (soft-roading?).
Fairly rocky gravel path on my commute and also just terrible roads. Bigger is comfier so need or not it’s just nice to have I reckon.
Once the mtb is built I’ll see where it fits in.
