• Yes it is DS = Radial, an aesthetic choice but we figured that 20 spokes 4 cross on the other side of a steel hub will stop any hub wind up ! i'll update next week after i have sorted tyre and integrated shifter on the bike and given it a go.

The NDS flange is only pressed into the hub shell, so any torque across the shell will spin the NDS flange in the shell.

  • thanks for the info - poo ! - only 1 way to find out if my awesome guns or lugging my lardy arse up a hill, will over-power 84 years of corrosion at the joint !

  • i decided to mock up the installation on an old frame from the man cave as a test bed - so i can still ride the fixie. The hub works well and changes nicely with a Campag 1970s shift lever- but with just a few laps of the garden i can see movement in the paint around that joint - so it is back to the wheelbuilder for a respoke on the drive side ! Many thanks for your warning ! :)

  • Wehey - a swift half wheel rebuild later and here we go - 40 spoke, 4 cross, aero bladed 45mm carbon tubeless 2 speed fixie ! Now a ride-able rolling chassis - just waiting for a few bits to sort out the handlebars / brakes etc
