  • Road bike geometry with gravel bike clearance, does it exist?
I know people say consolidating bikes doesn’t work, however I have 2 bikes which I am completely happy with for their purposes, a caad12 disc for road riding and an Arkose for gravel and commute but I would like the arkose to feel more akin to an aggressive road bike, it sometimes feels a bit boaty and slow and I’d like the caad to be a bit comfier for long distance (bigger tyres).
However it seems if you go for bigger tyred frames then you get slack geo and if you go for steep angles you get 28c max.
I don’t have custom frame money also I’d prefer alu or carbon
Think I want the moon on a stick.
    Road race geo
    42c tyre clearance
    Guard mounts
    Internal cabling
Don’t need racks, don’t really need thru axle

  • How often do you actually ride gravel where trendy wide tyres are needed? Could you press the caad12 into commuting duties and just use the mtb for actual off road riding? 29ers can be pretty fast on the road with the sus locked out and tyres pumped up.

I've made do with a road bike, mtb and Brompton for a bit and have most bases covered, but then I have little interest in cx or soft off-roading (soft-roading?).

  • Fairly rocky gravel path on my commute and also just terrible roads. Bigger is comfier so need or not it’s just nice to have I reckon.
Once the mtb is built I’ll see where it fits in.
