I've gone with a dual-boiler Rocket - but still running off the water tank. I might plumb it one day, but too much effort right now.
Yes, the PID does the pre-infuse @Howard.
It's basically acting as a timer in this regard - on for a few seconds, off for a few seconds, on for 25 seconds to brew the shot, off again.
