Completely anecdotal, but when I had Vodafone for a work phone and my wife had o2, my wife ALWAYS had reception when i didn't.
BTW- in case your wife uses an iPhone and a MacBook, tethering is really straightforward... probably similar on Android too (unless it's running out of data that's the stress).

Its pretty straightforward with android. I just know what Mrs. H will be like.
Also frustrating, I had the great idea of going with Virgin as the previous occupants had it, but for some reason their account hasn't been closed which shifts it from 4-7 days to 14 ;(
But I'm more confident in getting that time rather than going through a 3rd party to get to open reach.
If it were me I'd tether. But I'd like this to be a low stress option so it looks like a dongel is the best short term option.
Anyoyingly finding out reception coverage for 4g by provider seems complicated.
I guess Vodafone or 02 are going to be the best? Both are claiming indoors / outdoors 4g for my postcode.
