  • My mum needs a new phone

You probably want the Android thread

  • I actually do, that's why I threw in the iPhone, haha
    I'll try that thread though

  • I threw in the iPhone

The last thing an elderly parent needs is a change of mobile OS.

  • Don't underestimate my mother! But you're probably right

  • I went to the gov.uk VERIFY webpage thing and it told me I had a return and I was able to just click a button to have it sent to my account. Result!

    You're welcome!

  • The last thing an elderly parent needs is a change of mobile OS.

Switching to iOS changed an elderly parent of mine from being constantly frustrated with the fucking (android) thing to sending me photos, even editing them, using whatsapp and other social media as if grown up with it as well as using all sorts of apps and features of the iPhone and really enjoying it.

  • Guessing you worked on it?

  • Still do. Verify is just the bit that identifies you to HMRC. The tax stuff is all HMRC

  • Surprisingly useful. So thanks!

  • Hello - I bought some brake levers on eBay 90s shimano (guessing) to fit on some cinelli bars from similar period but they are too narrow. What levers / size should I be looking at for these bars please? They fitted on some old British drop bars I had lying around but these are wrong for the stem

  • Old Cinelli will need 23.8mm clamp. It's possible that you've inadvertently found some levers with the optional clamp for skinny bars, but the band is pretty universal so you should easily find some parts to hack a solution in that case.

  • Need to get a load of old/disused/not needed keys for a project pretty sharpish. Any ideas where to go or ask other than obviously asking friends?

  • how many's a load? if the forum collectively dug through their kitchen drawer of random bits you'd probably end up with quite a few...

  • yeah - I know I have several

  • 50 would be more than enough, need to get em by Wednesday afternoon latest really

  • What size band brake levers do I need for an old (60s) Triumph bicycle? Internet suggests 7/8” but they looked narrower than that with a tape measure and I don’t have verniers at the moment.
Also is there a modern upgrade?

  • I checked a 60s Raleigh handlebar/stem one piece in my garage and the bars 22.3 mm or 7/8" which is the same as all the MTBs I have too. Any 22 mm brake lever will do but don't use (linear pull) V-brake levers with non cantilever or caliper brakes.

  • Why does every Novotel hotel room I have ever stayed in have this stupid hanging rail that is only about 45% usable, even after you've taken out the ironing board and propped it awkwardly down the side of the bed?

  • Where can I get a long metal file (400mm+) or something else to remove the back end of a bottle cage rivnut to fit a Di2 battery deeper in the seat tube?

  • Buy a different seatpost?

  • Where can I get a long metal file

Even if you found one long enough but with a small enough radius to fit down your seat tube, what would you do with it? Mostly slide off the side of the nut into your tube is my guess, as you'd have no control.

  • I did. It doesn't fit.

So, you have something to disappear the arse end of a rivnut?

  • Don't worry, I'm patient. No, wait, I'm A patient.

Find me a file long enough and I'll fuck this rivnut up is what I'm saying.
