  • Is this a known problem with Mack hubs? Couldn't really find anything doing a quick google search...

  • Nice Peloton

Halp! I got my bike built sometime ago at King Kog. Great shop btw. Was told my SRAM Omnium doesn’t clear so, I went with an old stock Fuji crankset. Yesterday, I went to a local triathlon shop to see if there was a quick solution. The mechanic added spacers. I couldn’t tell you on which side, how many, or what length. Everything seemed fine after my test ride, and then I noticed hard clicking after skidding (not always) and pedaling after trackstanding (first pedal stroke). The chainring bolts rub in those instances. I’ve been seeing the Trek T1 (2012?) model I own on IG with SRAM Omniums and would like to solve this issue. Local tri shop is not fixie oriented. I’m going to leave the bike alone in the meantime. * not the best photos

  • Yeah, don't mount stuff that doesn't fit. Get the old fuji crankset back on.

  • In the early days Mack hubs had problems with flange failing. These hubs are on the market since 2008, if not earlier. I’m sure their modern hubs have this sorted out.

  • i thought you were selling it?

what's the point in slamming the stem and cutting the steerer if you're selling it on soon

  • You're late to the party....

  • Strip it! Strip it! Strip it!

  • Explain to him please;)

  • @AlphaOmega at first was unsure of the endless potential of this frame, which was well masked by it's outdated iteration. But after spending some time with it, the boundaries of imagination cracked at the seams revealing what remains hidden to some.

He's going for the king HHS build I believe.

BTW: I left you a DM regarding your CAAD 2 weeks ago, did you miss it?

Soon when i sorted the seatpost...

BTW: I left you a DM regarding your CAAD 2 weeks ago, did you miss it?

    Not sure, did you?

  • No, I meant @ldphotoworks yellow/orange fades Caad road frame. ;)

  • Never had omniums kinda bummed. I’d rather by a better square taper bottom bracket and new chainring for the Fuji, or install the omnium on my big block frame. Ehh.

  • Omniums are notorious for not clearing the chainstay on certain frames. Don't worry about it, get some proper cranks like Sugino 75 or Dura Ace.

  • put this together for fun from an old frame and parts gathering dust - I didn't want a triple and middle and big rings were riveted together so hacksawed the big ring off - gearing is a mix of ultegra 10 sp rear mech, (70's?) Huret friction shifter on the top tube and a 9 speed shimano cassette minus 1 sprocket on an 6-7-8 sp free hub.
    seems to work ok.

  • Welcome to the Friction Huret Top-Tube Shifter Retro MTB Club! Works great all things considered, eh?

  • Road bike geometry with gravel bike clearance, does it exist?
I know people say consolidating bikes doesn’t work, however I have 2 bikes which I am completely happy with for their purposes, a caad12 disc for road riding and an Arkose for gravel and commute but I would like the arkose to feel more akin to an aggressive road bike, it sometimes feels a bit boaty and slow and I’d like the caad to be a bit comfier for long distance (bigger tyres).
However it seems if you go for bigger tyred frames then you get slack geo and if you go for steep angles you get 28c max.
I don’t have custom frame money also I’d prefer alu or carbon
Think I want the moon on a stick.
    Road race geo
    42c tyre clearance
    Guard mounts
    Internal cabling
Don’t need racks, don’t really need thru axle

  • What about that fancy weird gravel bike with the adjustable rake on the fork?

Can't remember what it is. seemed a bit gimicky TBH

  • Pretty sure if it was adjustable, I’d have it in one setting forever and probably defeats the purpose.
I probably just can’t get what I want and should just get over it.
I’d be more than happy with a caad12 disc if it could just squeeze 32s under guards (and take guards in the first place) but CAADX is #untukt

  • Genesis Datum has clearance for 38 tyres, road geometry, internal cable routing, mudguard eyelets..pretty happy with mine as a one for everything bike.

  • what about their new gravel thing?

  • This one? Still superslack™️

  • Isen all season?
