  • As old age approaches slippers seem more and more sensible.

Last year I picked up a pair of Glerups when in Scandinavia and have not looked back.

  • lol

  • Oh, the tears of joy at Christmastime - note the collapsed heel supports of a lazy mofo. I suspect I'm not alone.

  • Will try and include a photo one day.

  • What style Glerups did you get?
I'm torn between all 3 styles, slip on/front loader things, Jonny regular slipper or the full on boot.
    Probably going for front loaders.

How have they lasted also? Worth the £50 or so they will cost?

  • I have a deeply troubled relationship with slippers. I get terribly sweaty feet which obviously is a problem with slippers but I also LOVE slippers... any recommendations?

  • I have the slippers and the pixie boots

Both are great. My oldest pair are about three or four years old, are more hole than slipper and smell quite bad. But they are so comfy.

  • Comfy, warm, but terrible from a durability POV - mine started to come apart after a month or two, and only regular darning kept them going until they finally were beyond repair after a year or so.

  • That's a shame, they look like a really nice option!

  • Hmm. I have two pairs. One with wool felt (two years old), the other with their synthetic birko-felt (5 years old). The latter are harder wearing. For the woollen ones, I did find that the band was stretching at the buckle, so I got a cobbler to back it with a strip of leather.

    (Edit: fat fingered typos)

  • Possible I got a Friday special then - mine were wool AFAIK, and the rivets holding the straps pulled through the felt on both sides, and the fabric wore through at the toe. That was all darnable, but eventually the uppers came away from the sole, and I junked them.

  • Took delivery of some Tom's rodeo slippers, though as I am WFH for the foreseeable I might as well have comfy feet.
They are designed with the back to be trodden down for a mule style or it can be pulled up for a regular slipper.
Has a tough sole too for pottering about in the garden, if needed.

Tempted to see if I can get a black pair for the office when I go back.

  • those look good, like the trodden down back idea, let us know how you get on! and whether they are true to size.

  • Toms rodeo still going strong, but they fucking stink.
have to be washed fairly regularly, and even then the inner soles still retain a hum.
Sizing is good, i prefer them as a full slipper than the mule, they are a little uncomfortable to walk about in, but fine for night-time trips in the garden with the puppy.

I am in the market for a toasty pair of slippers now, but have made 2 mistakes recently.
Got some thinsulate slip-ons from primark, but they slip off my feet when i walk up the stairs and they have nearly killed me. (only cost £8)
Ordered some from Asos, but they are at least 3 sizes smaller than labelled (and they do not have a size 15 for me to try)

Any suggestions for warm slippers that are suitable for a size 12 foot?

  • I have these with a thin rubber sole and love them https://www.shoegarden.co.uk/products/haflinger-karl-anthracite

  • These are Swedish and super warm

  • Stick to croslite (EVA foam) or wool, everything else just reeks eventually.

  • I knew there'd be a slipper thread somewhere.

With winter coming up and WFH I need some warm slippers but ideally want something that won't cause sweaty feet. Any suggestions? The Halfiger ones above look like possibles.

  • Same ones after 11 years of wear, still warm and comfy but dole has smoothed out to be lethal on damp tiles so may need to replace soon

  • I have some Mahabis that MrsDeth got in a sale somewhere.
The rubber sole is very useful for late night garden visits with the dog.

  • I have some Mahabis

I have a pair of these too. They're "Nice, but a bit pricey".

  • Really happy with my Toms Berkley's but i'm not sure they sell them without the excessive fleece anymore. Only way for them to not stink is wear them with socks and have 2 pairs of slippers that you can rotate with.
