Oh joy, can't wait! ;-) In fact, I must have masochistic tendencies because I've volunteered for race-pacing (again) prior to my race. I'll be running (something like) 6k of whichever race has people targeting sub-40. They'll be on their own with 10 laps to go, that's beyond my warm-up comfort zone.
Canterbury Half Marathon went OK yesterday. Times pretty meaningless compared to a flat race, since it involved nearly 1,000ft elevation, but I had the satisfaction of finishing strongly to overtake a very handy V40 club mate in the final mile, for 8th overall and 1st V45. We also won the team award, which was a bonus because when I turned up I didn't even know others from the club were running. My even handier V40 club mate won overall in a course record 1:11:52, impressive enough but then he is hoping to run 2:22 or thereabouts at the Berlin Marathon in 3 weeks.
I somehow managed to motivate myself to get to the track this evening for a cut-down mile reps session, nice post-race loosener. A good sign of fitness coming back when HM recovery is better than 10k recovery a few weeks ago.
All the Surrey League x country are miles from me. But that's what you get when you move away.
On another note...
If anyone is in SE London this Sunday it is the Ladywell 10000 at Ladywell Arena, Catford. The twenty five lap fun starts at 1 pm and finishes around 7. There is beer, pizza and cake, alongside the tremendous racing. It's like Highgate but even friendlier!
