  • It's Ben Gibson I feel sorry for.

  • Yeah, it's an odd start for Burnley, loads of low scoring games last season. A bit like a Dyche is having a mid-life crisis.

  • Burnley look worryingly poor this season so far. Which is a real shame. As I want them to beat United at the weekend and hopefully Mourinho can get lost.

  • What would it take to get rid of Woodward? Relegation and bankruptcy?

  • A lesson for anybody chasing Europa League qualification.

  • yes I hear that. makes you wonder if it is worth it. but that's for Burnley fans to decide not me.

  • No chance, they're going to appoint a DoF in December, so he can concentrate on money-making. At which he excels.

  • Agreed. It's staggering that he's been able to milk every last $ for the Glazers whilst simultaneously devaluing the brand.

  • Woodward is going nowhere, in non footballing terms he's arranged massive financial deals for United (Adidas being the biggest)

It's just that he seems to know fuck all about players and getting the right ones for the manager.

All seems to go a bit weird for united, I don't think either 3 managers since Fergie has been the right fit, these players are capable of more - out of the back 5 last night, only Luke Shaw was anywhere near the quality required.

  • chivas just signed up as official whisky supplier to man utd

wonder who does the bog roll ?

  • I could imagine "more brand partners than anyone else" being used as a crutch to beat united with along the lines of "biggest corner flags, best pies".

While clearly forgetting "winning things" is what matters.
Still we're all talking about united.

  • Yep, yep, yep. My suggestion that it would take bankruptcy and relegation to force out Woodward was half-serious.

  • Man U stock price is up 55% in the last 12 months. I'd say the Glazers like Woodward.

  • United have an 'Official Global Lubricant Partner '. Woodward is a genius.

  • had a long post about football media biases favouring Utd and now we've won, media is playing the hell out of the utd angle and playing down Spurs being the better side.
    But I can't be arsed.
Moura was excellent, Son Heung Min when he gets back will have a hard time levering him out of the first 11, Toby was good all around, Dele felt like he was on the cusp of a good game (still played well), Rose despite his awful back pass, shaped up in the second half, and it's good to see we're getting goals from players not named Kane.
Now we just need to go grab a result from undefeated watford.
Bit too early to tell if we'll beat our record 11 wins to start the season, but fingers crossed..

  • Watford and Liverpool next for you. Should be a walk in the park.

  • think the liverpool game will be cracking.
Was planning on that one being the first I saw at the new stadium (puts on kevin mccloud hat, and waits for the project manager to pull finger out), might go to wembley anyway..

  • By all accounts Spurs didn't even play particularly well, in the first half at least. It's the sign of a growing team that they can get a result like that without being on top form.

  • Also things have gone a bit mad at Clapton CFC:

The club has raised more than £60,000 in a couple of days thanks to mainly Spanish people seeing the International Brigades-inspired kit and buying replicas.

  • Reports are suggesting the player furthest left in the top row is the real star.

  • Son Heung Min when he gets back will have a hard time levering him out of the first 11

If Korea don't get gold in the Asian Games (semi tomorrow, final on 1st Sep) then he'll be levered out for 2 years to do his national service sometime around November.

  • yeah, know this, tis a shame as he would have already had his exemption if Leverkusen had let him go to the asian games in 2014, which South Korea won.
Another reason to be excited by Moura starting so well.

Currently just worried about Lamela and his dodgy hamstring..

  • ha nice work dude. didn't realise you were playing for them.

will be along at the Stray Dog in the very near future.

  • his dodgy hamstring is the best thing that could happen to Spurs.
