which makes me wonder why you cut the steerer instead of leaving it to the new owner (which now won't be somebody whose fit needs the extra stack) to decide...

But you weren’t going to keep it and someone else might have needed it. I wouldn’t be able to run it slammed as it’s a size down for me. Might have bought it in the future but probably hold out now for a bigger one
