Tempted to try this, although I've not done anything longer than 50 miles in a long time. How are you getting back afterwards?

I'm going for tea and a nap at my gran's because I'm rock'n'roll like that ... then riding on elsewhere.
But there is Exmouth train station (1km flat roll along from the cafe that marks the finish). You can change at Exeter St Davids for trains back up country.

I've not done anything over 70 miles this year.
It's not hard terrain, but with some hills. People tend to roll out from the start at a time that'll suite their pace and cafe opening. I'll be loaded up with some luggage so just bimbling along, probably setting off at 9:30-10pm to arrive around 6am.

Well if I don't get sucked in to DIY, or at least get through a lot of it this week, I might give a go. I guess I can bail at Taunton if I'm really fucked.

My first ride fixed. Which was a stupid idea.
Lovely route and far less crowded than dunwich.

Yeah, I’ve heard of this being done.
Let us know in here if you make the start and I’ll try and say ‘hello’.

It's a lovely ride, although I haven't done it since it moved to Bath, only twice from Bristol in 2007 and 2009. Both extremely rainy editions.

Top ride! Dry until in the seafront cafe for most.
Interesting route. I loved the gravel paths under a full moon, and the Sustrans tunnels out of Bath. I did have a few nav issues: failing to find a route through a farmyard and instead heading through a field :-/ I also found the battery-life limitations of a Garmin Edge 25.
Extra grippy/hilly lanes early-on this year added to the overall climbing. I would not have wanted to try this one fixed. Pottering along loaded up it was great though.
Starting in Bath, finishing in Exmouth the morning after.
I've ridden this on and off since 2010 and it's always a challenge and a laugh in one way or another. The beautiful route and 'semi-organised' nature of the ride is pretty fantastic.
