• Thoughts?

Generally I'm usually happy enough taking two lenses for a digital camera on holiday- a standard compact zoom for daylight, and then a fast prime for the night.
For me, I'd be looking at something like the Sony 35mm f1.8 to complement the kit zoom.

Depends what you want to photograph I guess ?

  • That sorta the the reason why I thought 16mm would be good. I love street and architectural photography. But maybe a wide prime would be a little too restricting. Might try this holiday with the zoom kit lens and my 55mm prime to see how well/bad this holiday snap will go.

It just depends on what you're used to ? A kit zoom will cover the wide end during daylight, what's most important for you at night ? Get a fast prime to cover that focal length for night duties. If 16mm (for aps-c) works for you at night, get that ?
55mm on aps-c is probably tighter than what I'd like at night, but then I'm not you !
