Love this bike, was the frameset NOS?

Appreciate that...i bought in from the first owner

Crazy that it was set up for full cable housing on the rear brake - my '99 CAAD3 has the usual stepped cable stops and I had to use hydro hose clamps to run an HS33 on it.
Magura HS are hands-down the best rim brakes out there, no v-brake can touch 'em. -

I agree... best of the best if you use on the beast bike...

I've owned the frameset from new, and it's been in use almost continuously since 1999.
I rebuilt it with a mix of modern/period parts a couple of years ago, the hydro brakes were sold long ago unfortunately. The forged TRPs are about the best Vs I could find. The bike now has a setback Thomson post, 80mm Thomson stem and a Wolf tooth drop-stop chainring. I switch the saddle out for a black one now and again.

Cheers. Same geo as yours, hence the appreciation :) Gotta love needing such a massive amount of seatpost to ride these things.

Yeah they're nice to ride aint care the weight just ride...onething how those rear mech are they good? Are those the one to tension thw chain?

That XT Shadow Plus clutch mech (esp when coupled with a narrow/wide chainring) makes a huge difference to chain retention. I wish that shit had been around 20 years ago - my bike has been run as a 1x since day one (1x9 originally) and I fucked around trying chain retention devices as it often threw the chain upon shifting to the smallest sprocket. None of them really worked, but clutch mechs and n/w rings represent genuine progress. For a 1x setup, they're essential.

This bike also got featured on Prolly right? These frames look so cool!

It did, about 6 years ago.
It was set up as I'd had it from the start - 1x9, 12-25 road cassette, 46T chainring, 1.0" slicks. Fast road commuter, late-nineties-London-messenger style. -
