I'd look at the waterproof/shockproof ones. Fine with being dropped and tend to have big buttons as they're designed to be used with gloves.
I have a Coolpix S32 (one for £25 here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nikon-Coolpix-S32/273390505021 ) which is nice enough for the price. Pictures aren't amazing but I'm not sure if a 4 year old will mind
