39 miles of (almost) all down hill, with a beer-stashing stop as the Sainsbury is still closing at 10 pm.

Well the train is definitely moving in the right direction.

Did you make that train, or did you all slip over in wet cleats and end up sprawled across the concourse covered in McDonalds as it pulled away?

It was dry in Kent. And in a positive development, I think I have put together a really nice Kent 3 route which we should try out. Similar length and elevation to Kent 2, but goes up Toys and down Back Lane which is wicked. Also avoids the out-of-the gate throat punch that is Star Hill

And getting train to West Wickham/hayes is quite easy.

Not badly rained on - but it probably matched the dictionary definition of 'patchy showers'. We rode into some warm rain at the top of the climb, which then seemed to alternate between dry and drizzle every 5 mins for the rest of the ride - including one period of torrential rain that lasted about 20 seconds!

This is what I had in mind, as about 34 miles with a stop and possible pub puts people back to the train in good time. People who live in deep SE London could meet us in Brasted for example @Klar
