“I don’t know how you can impeach somebody who’s done a great job,”
These are some figures for the Clinton presidency. I think Clinton also balanced the deficit. The Republicans recently impeached a president who was doing a great job.

Just did a little bit more digging. Only JFK and Roosevelt posted better economy figures than Bill Clinton. Clinton still got impeached. I know being a good president isn't all about the economy but given that Trump seems to take particular pride in taking credit for it I thought it was worth pointing out.

The bestest job with so much winning, maybe they are tired of all the winning that is going on!

Here's a timely guide to impeachment:

Be careful what you wish for. Trump would be replaced by an anti-LGBT, anti-abortion, climate-change denying creationist. Vice-President Mike Pence.

To succeed an impeachment needs a two-thirds majority in the senate. The Republicans attempt against Clinton failed to even get 50% support, three of their own senators voted against.
This year only one third of Senate seats are up for re-election. Even if the Democrats won every available seat (unlikely) they would only have 58, needing 9 Republican senators to vote against Trump.

If it is going to happen, Mueller will have to find something too bad for anybody to stand by.

Would the Democrats move to impeach? Notwithstanding what happened at the last election, I'd have thought it would be an easier target to run against Trump than against Pence in 2020
-
• #6284
You would have thought that 2 years ago though, right?
-
• #6285
Yes, absolutely. But how long would it take to impeach him? A year or more?
So right before the election you get a new Republican, who many Republican voters would probably identify with better than a tainted Trump?

Fun as an impeachment would be, I think it would be better in the long run to have a type of death by 1000 cuts: So many things mount up that the republican base chooses not to endorse a second term, but not enough for Trump to be seen as witch hunted out which might well reinforce his base support (sad as that is).

Might be more realistic too. Then he has the fun of being prosecuted separately for each offence after he leaves office, dependent on statute of limitations for each, obvs.
If I have it right, also the Senate needs 2/3 majority to boot him out. So would anything stop GOP having the equivalent of a three-line whip for senators that would defeat the motion anyway (regardless of the validity of any charges), meaning the whole thing would just be a big show with no end result?
Edit: should have read Charlie_L, above!

Having just read up on it, it was five against both charges, an additional five against one of the charges

The president of the USA is now tweeting white supremacist conspiracy theories about race war in South Africa. Even for Trump this is pretty wild.

Yeah, the biggest flaw with the white genocide conspiracy theory is that there is literally no evidence to suggest that it's true. In fact, the evidence tends to indicate that it's not.
One would hope that Pompeo starts from the basis of "is this even a thing?".

Hello @us3r9xxx1whatever.
Last time you were here you posted some spurious nonsense that I refuted with a screenshot of Mr Cohen's lawyer saying the exact opposite of what you claimed Cohen was saying and doing.
Care to respond?

What's your point, exactly?

Malema's EFF is a pan-African Marxist-Leninst party and not a party of anarchists. He warns of anarchy being the result of continued stalemate on land reform. It's a call for effective diplomacy, not a threat of violence.
Trump is only capable of fucking things up, not least when it comes to delicate diplomatic situations. By wading in he is pandering to his white supremacist base and nothing else.

furthermore, you're far more likely to die on a farm if you are a non-white labourer. Violence as a result of attempted burglary, poor working conditions exacerbated by minimal access to healthcare, the dop system by which labourers are paid in low quality run off from the wine producing industry sees generational alcoholism, abuse and in some cases birth deformities (this is being better regulated now).
