Now that's a question.
It would appear that a mortgage for an 800k place would be circa 2k/month, which would strike me as something of a line in the sand, payment wise. HSBC would appear to be happy to lend me rather more than that, but I'm having a few issues with paying 2k a month so lets leave it there.

I'd like a different answer to Croydon, and therefore hope to get one by plaintively re-posing the same question.
That said, Croydon isn't London, I'd suggest.
