• I really don't see how any of that is meant to make pedestrians safer in real terms. Such a lopsided Daily Mail bait

  • What a crock of shit.

I asked if they are going to consider penalising pedestrians for 'careless' walking.

  • I'm more worried about the lower end of charges, police forces when handed new laws do some silly stuff and I can see a "op safeway" style crackdown on some obscure section come next year when it's all passed.

  • That's me done it three times now. Fuck this country.

  • In that case can we use the I didn't see them or the thought I had run over a rabbit defence?

  • Are you now persectuting daily hate readers....how will that affect house prices? Was it cyclists that killed Lady Di er Forin people invading and killing with cycles?

  • Well I have had a few drinks, am this knee jerk reaction really angers me.

People (murders) can murder with a motor vehicle, and get away with the murder on the flimsy excuse and no one cares (a jury of peers) enough to give a fitting punishment.

I so want to add more but feel that it would just end in a nonsensical rant.

  • By the way, here's a long and fairly complicated document the CTC put out in June. I haven't read it but thought I'd link to it directly in case people find it useful.

(I still expect them to do something else in response to the current consultation.)

  • When you've read all 164 pages of it please TL;DR for us ;)

  • Pffft, no commitment. :)

  • Just summoned the energy to attempt the consultation again.

10 . The report from the independent expert concluded that there is a gap in the law regarding dangerous or careless cycling. Do you feel that existing laws adequately cover circumstances where a person’s cycling causes harm or injury others?

"You couldn't possibly disagree with an independent expert now, could you? Go ahead and agree with us so we can get on with this. "

    What a shitshow.

  • The report is shit, too.

  • Haven't we had enough of experts tho?

  • With a question worded like that it hardly matters, sadly.

Do you feel that existing laws adequately cover circumstances where a person’s cycling causes harm or injury others?

You need to be pretty hot to have read and understood the law and understand the context. So the average joe on the street will of course answer NO, because you know, what's the worst that could happen?

It reads like one of those shit undergrad / MSc questionnaires people post up on here sometimes looking for help with research.

  • It reads like one of those shit undergrad / MSc questionnaires people post up on here sometimes looking for help with research.

This. Although, I've seen some of those on here that were far better than this one.

  • From what's been said on here so far, I'm hoping CTC or LCC comes out with an informed take on how to respond to this.

  • They could start by getting some kind of impartial oversight as to how such a leading 'consultation' can be considered fair or meaningful to start with....

  • Consultation deadline is Monday 5th November

The Cycling UK Road Justice campaign will help you contact your local MP with a prewritten letter asking for a full review if you click the link below:

Remember, remember the fifth of November for a different reason this year – it’s the last day you can contact your MP to ask for a full review of road traffic offences and penalties. At present, the government has committed to reviewing cycling offences only – despite 99.4% of road deaths involving a motor vehicle. Help Cycling UK, Brake and RoadPeace widen the conversation and improve road justice for everyone.

  • That was not to painful . All done not that my local mp alison mcgovern has accomplished anything prefaring to follow corbyn bashing from lord sainsbury.

  • Thanks, done.
